Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Lisa Czech and I’m from Montreal but I am living and barely surviving in Mexico City right now.

What are your main publishing projects?
I’ve being doing gig posters for awhile, mostly for shows in Montreal and Ottawa, and done some covers for records of groups like the Nymphets, Secret Police, Devil Eyes, Dead Wife. There’re a couple of zines of my drawings called A Bitter Pill and Shadow People.

What are some of your artistic influences?
Dirty Plotte and Love & Rockets are my favorite comics series.

Musical influences?
Rezillos, Circle Jerks, Sudor, the Slits, La Souris Déglinguée, Contropotere, LiLiPUT, and Indochine are perennial favorites.

How would you describe your style of drawing?
Characters kind of like Archie’s if they were grimier and angry. My work used to be pretty much exclusively high-contrast black and white jello arm people, but I recently learned how to draw and that really changed everything.

What other punk projects are you involved with?
I sing in the band Malokio and play guitar in Dead Wife.

What’s in the future for you as a cartoonist/artist?
The near future is bringing a release with Ediciones ¡Joc Doc! and more comics and drawings, and I won’t stop doing gig posters as long as people don’t stop asking. Malokio has a bunch of songs that we wanna make a LP of and go on tour. Right now I am focusing on getting things done without cutting my hands off or walking into any holes.
