MRR #320 • 2009 Year End Top Tens • January 2010

  • Out Of Print

Decade-End Top Tens Issue! The first issue of the decade seems a good place to discuss the music of the decade we are leaving. MRR #320, the January 2010 issue, features numerous MRR columnists, shitworkers, and reviewers pontificating on what went before musically, the platters that mattered in the—what do we call ’em—the zeroes? We also have interviews with cover stars from Japan, D-CLONE, Olympia, Washington’s BROKEN WATER, Montreal’s COMPLICATIONS and street punk from the UK, courtesy of CONTROL. We talk with author Ian Glasper, who has just finished a three volume series on the UK underground, starting from the spiky punk of the early ’80s in Burning Britain, then moving onto the anarcho-punk scene with The Day the Country Died, and ending up with a book on the UK hardcore scene of the late ’80s, Trapped in a Scene. And as always, we feature the most extensive punk music review section in print, plus all yer usual columnists… The cover was designed by Randy Ransome.

We are a contributor-driven publication, which means that we rely on punks like you to fill our pages. This is your magazine! You don’t need an invitation to be a part of what we do.

For review and radio play consideration, send two copies of vinyl or one copy of CD- or cassette-only releases to PO Box 460760, San Francisco, CA 94146, USA. Send us the final version of your record—we do not review digital releases, test presses, or promo CDs. All tapes and CD-Rs are reviewed in the Demos section.

We will review everything that falls within our areas of coverage: independent punk, garage, and hardcore. This means no major labels or labels that are exclusively distributed by major-owned distributors. We reserve the right to reject releases on the basis of content. Music without vocals or drums will not be considered.

Every record that is reviewed is added to our archive, the largest collection of punk records in the world. Please allow two months from your mailing date before following up to ask if we’ve received your submission.

We are always looking for interview, scene report, guest column, and photo submissions. Submission does not guarantee publication. In order to improve the chances of your submission being printed, please read our FAQ.

In addition to records, we also review independently published and produced zines, books, and movies. Please send physical copies to PO Box 460760, San Francisco, CA 94146, USA. If you have a streaming link to your film, or if it is playing in the San Francisco Bay Area, please email the information to

We rely on distributors to help us reach punks all over the world. Our distros come in all shapes and sizes, from the large companies that sell to newsstands and chain bookshops to a punk who sets up a box on a table at a show. As long as you know people who are interested in reading MRR you too can successfully distribute the magazine! If you have suggestions for places that we should contact about carrying the magazine, get in touch.

US Distribution

In the US you can order five or more of the same issue of MRR for only $2.49 each plus postage. If you are interested in carrying the magazine, write to us with the desired quantity, a shipping address, and your preferred form of payment. There is a small fee associated with Paypal payments.

Newsstand circulation is available through TNG. Other wholesalers who carry the magazine include Ebullition, Revolver, Small Changes, Media Solutions, and Kent News.

International Distribution

We have access to some of the cheapest international shipping rates offered by the USPS. We ship international packages to distributors once a month—individual issues start at $1.75 each. Shipping costs vary by country.

If you are interested in carrying the magazine, write to us with the desired quantity, a shipping address, and your Paypal email address. We send money requests for payment once a month, prior to shipping.

We encourage international distributors to set up subscription services in their city or country. Splitting the wholesale costs of magazines between a group of friends is much more affordable than ordering subscriptions directly from us.
