isotope

Band name:
ISOTOPE

Date & location formed:
West Oakland, Neo-Bristol. July/August 2014

Reason for forming:
Having a say, play gigs until slowly disintegrating into the banality of hardcore history. To annihilate ourselves, and hopefully a few others along the way

What are your lyrics about?
The milieu of taboo punk themes. Warfare, animal exploitation, sex and self inflicted violence, frustration with corporate fascism, alienation, the earth being ravaged by mad sick butchers. Angry songs and bitter words, yet they still ignore!

How would you describe your sound?
Like the crumbling of the all-seeing eye collapsing in on itself with the magnitude of 5 nuclear bombs, the massive sound of silence that will be accompanied after the final bomb drop, and the challenge of the survivors living in the now apocalypse

What’s in the future for this band?
Bad life choices, recording, touring, gigging, and midnight madness

barbed-wire-500x12

Band name:
SILENCE

Date & location formed:
Autumn 2013, Pittsburgh, PA.

Reason for forming:
We wanted to create a band that blended the more nuanced and darker sounds of post-punk with the politics of the anarcho/crust bands we’ve all been fans of for years. Silence set out to be a band that stood for something and could potentially reach beyond the typical crusty audience with our message.

Silence

What are your lyrics about?
Our lyrics feature a mix of topical subjects — such as NSA and corporate surveillance, animal rights, and race and gender issues — alongside more personal themes of the alienation, anger, and sadness that arise from living in a culture that treats both humans and animals as disposable commodities, cheaply sacrificed in the name of profits and power.

How would you describe your sound?
We draw from a wide range of influences, but the core of our sound is a blend of late seventies/early eighties post-punk with peace punk. The vocals are mostly melodic, while the guitar sound is pretty cold and often angular.

What’s in the future for this band?
We hope to release and LP of the first batch of songs we’ve been working on in the near future. Beyond that, we’ve been invited to play Skumfest in the UK this summer, so we’re hopefully going to do that, and we’re also working on a batch of songs for a 7″ based on gender issues.
