Φορμόλη Tombs of Hell LP
This is the second album of Ακραίφνιο’s ΦΟΡΜΟΛΗ (yes, that’s in Greece, in case it was unclear), a band I had read about, because the fantastic label Extreme Earslaughter contributed to the project, but never listened to. But as ZOUNDS said, “there’s a new band every day,” and one does not have endless time even for quality grinding crustcore like this. If you dislike heavy and disgusting music with blastbeats and growling cavemen on vocals, ΦΟΡΜΟΛΗ will not be for you, but if, like yours truly, you can take the punishment, this band proves to be very enjoyable. The production is rather clear, but the music is hard-hitting enough for me to like, and I am really reminded of bands like MASSGRAVE, MASS EXTINCTION, and MASSDEAD (or even TERRORIZER, although the Greeks do not deal in metal). My one main critique is that the production should be more organic and dirtier (punkier, maybe?) in order to sound more savage, but I’ll still take it as it is.
