Fetus Eaters Fetus Eaters LP

This single-sided LP rips it to festering bloody bits with some sickening old school death metal out of Los Angeles. The goofy song titles and in-between song samples indicate that this is one of those “funny” bands. Usually, funny death metal bands make me want to barf, in a bad way. Death metal is serious fucking shit, dude! But this band sheds so hard I can’t deny it. I guess my rotten pustule heart can stand to laugh a little every now and again. Cover features babies being eaten by skeletons, now that’s funny.

Lack of Interest Bitter About Life in General 5xCD boxset

A slick five-CD collection of crucial L.A. powerviolence outfit LACK OF INTEREST’s discography spanning 1993 to 2013. Across two LPs and various splits and comp features, LACK OF INTEREST showcases ultra-fast, violent playing that is evenly matched by the uniquely over-the-top barked vocals that are a hallmark of the band’s sound. In addition to the influence of early powerviolence bands like INFEST and CROSSED OUT, there’s definitely some ’80s Midwestern hardcore like NEGATIVE APPROACH (their cover of “Pressure” is included here) informing the band’s earlier style. And while some evolution can be heard over the course of the band’s output, they never lose any of their feral energy. Very cool set worth checking out; includes a booklet with lyrics and photos.
