Revenge

Confederate Surrender or Just Fight LP

Some classic SoCal sounds are captured on CONFEDERATE’s debut album. With its melodic guitars and songs, multi-tracked vocals, and fine production (courtesy of ex-ADOLESCENT Rikk Agnew), the listener is treated to a non-innovative but enjoyable release, not unlike the VANDALS’ debut.

D.I. Richard Hung Himself 12″

D.I. have well-executed, concise songs with interesting but not necessarily innovative arrangements. There are a lot of obvious influences here—FLIPPER, ADOLESCENTS, CIRCLE JERKS, MISFITS—but the witty lyrics and good production make it plenty entertaining.

Nog Watt Fear EP

Playing ripping hardcore at many speeds, this mostly female combo (a fact they don’t accentuate) attacks with power, confidence, intelligence, and proficiency. Six songs that make me think this is what the AVENGERS and UXA would’ve sounded like today. Great!
