Bart De Vraantijik runs BART AND THE BRATS by himself out of La Rochelle, France, and he has churned out a ton of releases in the last few years, including contributions to a bunch of splits with acts such as JACKET BURNER, MITCH KRAMER, the BATTLEBEATS, and TENEMENT RATS. Brats Being Brats is four more songs of late ’70s garage/budget punk, over in eight-and-a-half minutes, which is exactly the right length for this stuff. My favorite is “Collision Course,” 90 seconds of coiled tension with a guitar line that made me think of Andy Gill (GANG OF FOUR), and no surprise that it’s also the shortest thing here. A lot of this genre runs together on me. These four tracks didn’t. On a 45 with the big hole from Big Neck. What have you got to lose?
