Variations of May Volatility LP
Terrific mid-tempo punk with a melodic quality leaning more toward the alternative side vs. the pop punk side of things. Catchy songs with easily sing-along-able lyrics reflecting personal experiences and experiences that are maybe not so personal. This reminds me of a lot of great bands in overall sound, but nothing specific enough to say if “you like this, you’ll like that.” I’ll say take some chunks of early SOCIAL DISTORTION, STATUES, BANNER PILOT, IRON CHIC, and JAPANDROIDS, blender it up with a couple other secret ingredients, and here ya go. My only critique would be that the fourteen songs run a bit long; coulda edited out one or two tracks. Other than that, this is a good, layered listen that might take a few plays to completely take in everything that VARIATIONS OF MAY is offering up for their latest release.
