Calice Calice cassette
A grimy, multilingual melting pot of Rust Belt hardcore punk, CALICE is precisely the sort of thing I’d come to expect from the always eclectic Swimming Faith Records. Sonically, CALICE plays speedy and loose hardcore dripping with disdain and attitude, led by twisted vocals that occasionally echo the spirit of Sakevi and, unbelievably, toggle between different languages each song, utilizing nine in total. It’s remarkable how seamless the language-switching is, and while it’s a novel idea, it never feels forced or jarring, an impressive feat that makes for one of this year’s most unique releases.
