This is what’s up. After five years, CIVIC MIMIC graces us with three new tracks that just rip in a way that only New Jerseyans know how to make happen. If you’re looking at the album art, and “Can’t Be Cruel” is your introduction to the project, you might think you’ve stumbled upon a new eggy project through a Don Giovanni Records lens, but then a minute-and-a-half in, the coda hits and you realize this is way more a TENEMENT through Don Giovanni Records lens…okay, that already exists, but whatever. There’s some TONY MOLINA here, some MIDNIGHT RERUNS, and it’s easy to picture these guys sharing a New Brunswick basement with the ERGS! or HUNCHBACK back in the day (or even now, as those acts will still make appearances). Can’t get enough here.
