New collection of expansive experimental jams from this long-running collective, featuring members of no wave OGs UT. The atmospheric tracks drift in and out, like a minimalist blend of BODY/HEAD, the DEAD C, and SONIC YOUTH’s early ’80s guitar scrape era. There are abrasive moments, like the repetitive riff and mechanical drum beat on “Metal Fun,” and the moody industrial menace of “Slaughter,” but much of Watch is a contemplative, droning affair that begins with a mysterious blend of ERIC SATIE-style piano and guitar exploration on “I Interrupt You.” The sequencing and ominous, cavernous production are so well done that the album is best listened to as a start-to-finish experience, recalling the best underground guitar experimentation of the past several decades.
