Exclaim Fusillade LP
During the mid-’80s, EXCLAIM was creating punk based on the work of DISCHARGE, CRUCIFIX, and CRASS in Akita, Japan, far from the hotbeds of Tokyo and Osaka, which is also why their Fusillade LP is just now creeping out into the light of day. EXCLAIM captures the classic aggro punk aesthetic of fellow countrymen G.I.S.M., but also occasionally hits a noisy garage sound à la TEENGENERATE, and there are even noise moments that immediately recall early MELT BANANA. In all, Fusillade is an engaging and enjoyable trip, and if you’re into Japanese punk, this is a must-have.
