Relentlessly gnarly rippers from Leicester, FERAL STATE follows up their 2022 debut with a worthy sophomore release in II. D-beats galore and crusty vocals meet thrashy riffs, with some slower headbanging moments peppered throughout. I can see FERAL STATE having a pretty wide appeal—they evenly mix up the metal and the punk in their sound without ever getting too lopsided, especially on tracks like “Slow Decay,” whose riff is certainly channeling a little bit of MOTÖRHEAD. Recommended.
