In 1983, the actor and comedian Andy Kaufman utilized a gag in his TV special that intentionally distorted the on-screen image, meant to lead viewers to believe their television set was broken. An unwitting listener may have a similar experience with this 7”. Japan’s FEROCIOUS X peddles five blasts of completely blown-out noise punk, showcasing their distinct mangel-influenced approach, including lyrics written and “sung” in Swedish. Fuck with your stereo all you want, there is no amount of knob-turning that will conjure any fidelity here. Noise, speed, and aggression are all that you’ll find within these grooves. But make no mistake, this EP exhibits a masterful grasp on the material. The band has been cranking this shit out for a near quarter-decade. A relentless sonic punishment layered with unforgiving chaos. Try flipping it over and you’ll get the Andy Kaufman treatment once more…it’s a one-sided record!
