Fourteen Hokus Pokus Vapor 22 EP
Sarah, Erica, Ruby, and Coach are FOURTEEN, and their Hokus Pokus Vapor 22 EP is eight songs of pure pop punk, the very best of the no-frills kind. If I had to put this onto a mixtape, I’d also include bands like SWEET BABY, BRENTS T.V., VANBULDERASS, POOPIEHEAD, WHEN PUBERTY STRIKES, SEWER TROUT, KAMALA AND THE KARNIVORES, and so on. Lyrics taking on big topics in some tunes, while others distill had-to-be-there inside jokes that probs only the band and close friends are tuned into. I’m stoked on this record. In my brain, I imagine that these four friends went into a secret studio inside a cargo van that’s been abandoned inside a parking garage, and for fifteen minutes, wrote and recorded these eight songs, then left and never talked about it again. And now we have this little regional important thing, like a dumb little town that has a special stone named after it to always remember that something great is always somewhere.
