Galanti Nášivky Františka Malečka LP
A discerning listen will leave you with more questions than conclusions here, but GALANTI is nothing if not compelling—a churning juggernaut of complex Eastern European hardcore infected with metalcore chugs and the kind of genre-bending diversions that make me think of the kids who got into heavy hardcore through SOAD (as opposed to SOA or SOD, if you know what I mean). Think about when Prank released that PESD album twenty years ago and it mostly flew under the radar, but the people who really listened to it got turned on their damn heads. Or the last PAINTBOX record (to continue the Prank theme)…this sounds like neither, but it defies convention in the same way. Nášivky Františka Malečka will require repeated listens to fully appreciate it and I’m not actually sure if I’m going to end up liking it, but that’s not the point. GALANTI is interesting, and they’re making me listen.
