La Gachette Une Vie à Défendre LP
First of all, shoutout to any band still making tunes after over two-and-a-half decades. Whether you like the music or not, it’s objectively impressive to keep at it that long. Oi! from Montreal has a storied history, with countless bands having contributed to the sound and the scene. Now for the actual sounds here—I must say I wasn’t feeling great when this thing started. The slick production and the vocals being right at the front was almost a little jarring. By the second track, I got my sea legs and allowed myself to settle in and take in what was happening. By the fourth track or so, I was over it. Speaking of the sea, this thing just feels a bit too shambling for my taste, almost like it was indeed meant for pirates? Oi! Oi! Captain!
