Oddfellows Oddfellows LP
Chris Pulliam, Mark Ryan, and Mike Throneberry first started as ODDFELLOWS in 1996, playing just a few shows. Their subsequent bands defined the Denton scene—the HIGH TENSION WIRES, the REDS, MIND SPIDERS, RADIOACTIVITY, and of course the MARKED MEN. They got back together and recorded some new songs that are an almost simplistic version of their other projects. They have the uncanny ability to make a C/G riff sound like the first time you ever heard it. The stripped-down and honest sound of the BATS or Portland’s the BUGS is there, and then some songs take a slight anti-art psych angle like URINALS, basically anything off the Negative Capability…Check It Out! compilation album. It’s like finding your weirdly cool uncle’s old high school yearbook at a garage sale and seeing where it all started.
