Pig Rides These People Are Not Your Friends cassette

This one is taking me a while to process—modern maximum-energy, fuzzed-out chaos freak punk, but there are Japanese hardcore solos and the vocals are glass shard, fire-throat destruction. But there’s something else, there’s something slightly off…holy shit, this is Matt from SOCKEYE. I have so many more questions now, but I am more convinced than ever that Matt is a genius. You’re going to hear everything here; you’re going to hear all of the punk. But you’re going to hear it through a freak filter that’s impossible to describe unless you just…unless you know. All you need to know now is that you need PIG RIDES and that you should listen to your elders.

Pig Rides Rides Again, Again EP

If you’re into hardcore punk and hear the word “pig,” two things typically come to mind: the cops, and POISON IDEA’s legendary guitar player. Cleveland’s PIG RIDES acknowledge both on Rides Again, Again, an ode to the illustrious guitar hero and hating the fuzz. Full of fury and snot, PIG RIDES rage through five hectic tracks that aren’t the most dynamic songs I’ve ever heard, but they do feature some cool guitar work and tons of energy to spare. If you like CHAIN WHIP, this will be right up your alley.

Pig Rides Demo 2024 cassette

Six-song debut demo cassette clocking in at under ten minutes long. This demo could be three times its length and I would still be thirsty for more. Relentless, grimy hardcore punk which is undeniably from Cleveland, Ohio. The “members of” list would surely be too long to navigate, as the band is comprised of a bunch of long running freakers steering this ship. Most notable, to me anyway, is that the vocals are done by the singer from TV DRUGS, and at least one other member is from the oft-overlooked powerhouse KILL THE HIPPIES. Very cool first release. Can’t wait to take my next pig ride.
