Poise Iron Foot EP
Politically-minded hardcore punk with smoking hot riffs from the Pacific Northwest? What more could you ask for? POISE’s second offering Iron Foot is thrillingly savage, mostly thanks to its maniac vocals and wildly over-the-top guitar work. Listing POISON IDEA, LOS CRUDOS, and ANNIHILATION TIME as main influences is a hefty order, but POISE pulls it off, with each of those bands’ respective threads of DNA being heard here. Even with a brief nine-minute runtime, the band keeps it interesting by breaking up the tracks with a moody little instrumental halfway through, a small touch that goes a long way in elevating an EP from “good” to “fucking great.” Check out “Snake Oil.”
