New Jersey’s SCRAPYARD plays hardcore with a strange amount of swing in its bones. There’s plenty of straight ’80s punk here—the guitars keep wandering into wiry, melodic shapes in the vein of early POISON IDEA, but carrying some of that same sense that punk riffs can bend, move, and get a little weird without losing their bite. Then come these odd cadences that almost feel pulled from blues, only sped up, roughed up, and shoved through an ’80s hardcore band. Fourteen songs and enough variation in the guitar work to keep the whole thing from turning into another retro HC exercise. Raw, catchy, slightly crooked. This one has character.
SCRAPYARD, desde New Jersey, hace hardcore con una cantidad bastante rara de swing metido en los huesos.
