Suicidas Canciones Malditas LP
The first full-length from Barcelona’s SUICIDAS, who rip out fast, melodic punk. This may be their first full-length, but they’ve released over a dozen 7” over the years, and while I’ve heard them referred to as RAMONES-core, I beg to differ. The fab four are clearly an influence, but the production is sharper, and they lack that distinct NYC edge. That’s not meant to slight SUICIDAS, but I feel like there is a little more going on here than just RAMONES worship. “Paz Y Tormento” bears influence to LOST KIDS with its tight percussion and steadfast, down-picked guitar parts. The music is tight, the production is polished, maybe even slightly over-polished, and the double vocals are top-notch. It all works in their favor. Cool stuff!
