Totalis Griefstate 12″
A heavyweight crust “supergroup” bringing together members of bands that shaped the genre as we know it today. TOTALIS refines the atemporal DISCHARGE/ANTI-CIMEX/SKITSYSTEM lineage through crushing production, piling D-beat agility, apocalyptic riffage, and an unmatched vocal savagery. Barney Greenway (NAPALM DEATH) and Fredrik Wallenberg (SKITSYSTEM) split vocal duties, giving the record two distinct but equally vicious voices; each one does three tracks. Andy Lefton (WAR//PLAGUE) oversees the guitar work, while the rhythm section is skillfully handled by Kelly Halliburton (DETESTATION, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE) and Charlie Claesson (ANTI-CIMEX, the PARTISANS). Throw Swedish hardcore, UK crust, and early grindcore into a blender, and the result is Griefstate. Nothing more than veterans of the extreme underground staking their claim to the genre they pushed forward, and a very refreshing take on it.
