Largely juvenile lyrics (except one song “Distracted from the Truth,” which shows some subtlety and thought) set to older garage and punk tempos. Well produced though with such a trashy aesthetic, perhaps it could have been cruder.
Loud guitars and occasional vocal choruses are a good starting point, but they only do so much to enliven this album, which contains largely undistinctive mid-tempo hardcore. Even the lyrics, covering a range of punk rockfish themes, also seem to lack the extra punch to push this one over the top.
The thrash on this record contains some gripping instrumental changes of pace, and demonstrates the rudiments of songwriting finesse. A brace of hard-driving HC numbers, a nifty cover of WAR’s “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” and some concise, dynamic production values make this one well worth getting. Some great potential here.
I like this record a lot, with its straightforward powerful punk/thrash and teeny-nasty vocals. Nothing really unusual here, but its simple punch and power are really enjoyable. A no-frills treat from this now-defunct band.
A solid third LP by this overlooked and recently reformed Jersey outfit. This is a very consistent effort: loads of driving punk with HÜSKER DÜ-ish tinges. Plenty of power, personal lyrics, well worth looking into.
