Band name:logo copy
CHROMA

Date & location formed:

Barcelona, around 2014 and 2015

Reason for forming:
Boredom basically. Chroma saved our lives from the insane daily routine.

What are your lyrics about?
The lyrics are about the issues that we care about, of the realities that surround us, and about ourselves. We throw out ideas and raise points, question affirmations that exist in our imaginations; maybe this openness gives the lyrics a philosophical nature, which was what we were looking for. We don’t want our lyrics to be the same slogans as always. We prefer to suggest new concepts. In the background to all of this, gender issues, feminism, communication, faith, religion and capitalism are the essence of what we sing about.

How would you describe your sound?
It is repetitive, metallic- we try to make it sound like an industrial machine, like something completely unnatural. The thing about Chroma is that we want it simple, musically speaking. We want it to be direct. Our lyrics are super important but most of what the music explores words cannot be expressed: we are angry, we’re not happy, life is violent, society is shit. We don’t want our music to sound good, we want it to be uncomfortable. We are freaks!

What’s in the future for this band?
Chronologically we are releasing an LP with Hysteria Records, Dê o Fora! and Nada Nada Discos that is going to be in your favorite distros around the world in the next month. In February we will be touring the West Coast and playing the MRR Fest.

Band name:
NIGHT SHAPES

Date & location formed:
2015 Oakland.

Reason for forming:
We’re just all into the same shit and had a bunch of gear laying around.

What are your lyrics about?
Usually approach each song with a feeling from the pressures of coping with being a person living with and around other people and the way we treat each other. Every time we play its different. Raw emotion I guess would be the best way to describe it? Like an improv set. Each time we play is different.

How would you describe your sound?
Psych / gaze / kraut / punk / puke

What’s in the future for this band?
Lots of shows. lots of records. New release on Heavy Dose in July.
