Band name:
LEISURE WORLD

Date & location formed:
Essentially Fullerton, California in January 2016.

Reason for forming:
Some of us were in a band called Half Goon that died. We recruited our singer because he was back in California after being in Milwaukee for many years and was too good to not have anything to do.

What are your lyrics about?
Trying to reconcile still playing in bands even though we are getting older and live in Orange County where nobody gives a shit.

How would you describe your sound?
Some amalgamation of hardcore punk and noise rock.

What’s in the future for this band?
Just released a demo online, cassettes being duplicated very soon. Playing some shows with buds.

HEAT

Date & location formed:
March 2016 in San Diego.

Reason for forming:
There was no particular reason. We just wanted to start a band together.

What are your lyrics about?
Anger, depression, anxiety, confusion. Normal things.

How would you describe your sound?
Short, fast and loud.

What’s in the future for this band?
The plan is to keep playing shows and after we get the demo out in physical form, we’ll start working on new music.

Band name:
NASTI

Date & location formed:
Winter 2015 in Olympia, WA. Went through a lot of people. Current lineup came together later that summer.

Reason for forming:
Being bored and stuck inside all winter. And we like punk.

What are your lyrics about?
Dying. Boredom. Disgust.

Nasti (photo by Jaime Salazar)

How would you describe your sound?
Noisy hardcore. Outsider punk.

What’s in the future for this band?
We recorded an LP earlier this year. Will be coming out on Iron Lung eventually. Then touring. Probably going to record some of the stuff on the tour tape we did recently with more songs and put that out at some point, too.

Band name:
DUSTERS

Date & location formed:
Late 2015/2016 in Basement City, USA! New Brunswick, NJ.

Reason for forming:
Started off as a few songs I’d write stuck in the horrible New Jersey bumper-to-bumper traffic in my head. I recorded a demo with my housemates at the time, but that lineup didn’t really work in a live setting so the current lineup started practicing in the fall and playing out in December. I used to play in a heavier, crusty band years back and I just wanted to do something that was catchy and sounded like the punk I grew up on again.

What are your lyrics about?
Work, being a working student, consumerism, psychosis, US soccer hooliganism, race relations, being brown and mentally ill in the punk scene, the police, etc.

How would you describe your sound?
Trying to bring it back-to-basics with a brand of hardcore that’s catchy and hook-laden, but still abrasive. We really like Tear It Up, Blitz, and 86 Mentality. Not exactly oi. Not exactly hardcore. Just some fun punk rock.

What’s in the future for this band?
We are dropping our demo CS next month, playing NYC Latino Punk Fest later on in the summer, and doing a few weekends here and there before shopping for labels for a 7″ of new material.

Band name:
KEPT IN LINE

Date & location formed:
2014 in Denton, TX.

Reason for forming:
A lot of bands where we’re from were taking a more heavy approach to hardcore and we kinda wanted to shake things up I guess.

kept-in-line-band photo

What are your lyrics about?
A wide range of things. This was my first time being in a band so I didn’t want to half ass anything or write anything that felt forced. The demo was written during my first semester of college which was an extremely difficult time so a lot of the lyrics stemmed from personal problems I had been dealing with it. As far as the EP goes I had written some songs about stuff that I dealt with as a kid. I guess the songs are just fueled by things that irk me everyday.

How would you describe your sound?
Brian and I really wanted to do an early 2000’s Boston style band so I guess you could say that’s our sound. I like to think we sound like Think I Care, No Warning, and Product of Waste.

What’s in the future for this band?
We’re doing a west coast tour this summer with Blindside from KCMO. Everyone should listen to that band. After that I guess we’ll just write new shit to hopefully put out a 7″. We’ll see what happens.
